In August of 2022, I took a short trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia. I enjoyed the wonderful sights, the delicious food, and the kind people. It rained every evening, but I always had time to finish my adventures before the deluges began.
On day 1 of my trip, I just walked around the city and talked to people. Sometimes it’s nice just to see how other people live.

On day 2, I took a trip to the nearby city of Battambang. I went on Viator’s “Battambang Full Day Tour from Siem Reap – Bamboo Train, Killing Cave & Sunset”. I explored the city, rode on a “bamboo train”, saw monkeys, visited some temples, learned about the horrors of the Khmer Rouge regime, and watched thousands of bats fly out of a cave.

On day 3, I explored some of the main temples around Siem Reap. I went on Viator’s “2-Day Temples with Sunrise Small Group Tour of Siem Reap”. I visited Preah Khan, Ta Som, Pre Rup, and Banteay Srei. They were truly something to behold.

On day 4, I visited more temples. I continued on Viator’s “2-Day Temples with Sunrise Small Group Tour of Siem Reap”. First, I saw the sunrise at Angkor Wat. It was truly spectacular. Then, I explored the temple for a while. It is vast and fascinating. Next, I went to Angkor Thom. Lastly, I went to Ta Prohm. Each of these temples is unique and enchanting.

On day 5, my final day in Cambodia, I went on a boat ride to explore Tonle Sap Lake and the floating villages. I went on Viator’s “Tonle Sap Lake & Kampong Phluk Half-Day Tours from Siem Reap”. Later, in the afternoon, I explored the Siem Reap countryside in a jeep. I went on Viator’s “Countryside and sunset with Military Jeep” tour. It was a great way to end my trip.

I don’t know if the rest of Cambodia is like Siem Reap, but I certainly hope that it is, for Siem Reap possessed that which all great travelers look for: awe and wonder.
