As I mentioned on my South America page, I went to Argentina in August of 2017. In January of 2023, I returned to Argentina, this time to the southernmost tip of the country, to a city called Ushuaia. This part of Argentina was so different from the other parts of the country that I had seen that I felt like it deserved its own entry.
I went to Ushuaia on my way to Antarctica. From Ushuaia, I took a round-trip cruise to Antarctica. For a few days before going on the cruise, and for a day after coming back from the cruise, I had some time to explore Ushuaia.
Ushuaia is a peaceful city, with beautiful views and friendly people.

On my second day in Ushuaia, I went on Viator’s “Tour to Tierra del Fuego National Park from Ushuaia”. I saw some interesting birds and some serene landscapes. I took a ride on the “train at the end of the world”. It was a bit expensive, but a fun way to explore the national park.

I went on my trip to Antartica. You can read about it on my Antarctica page. After returning to Ushuaia, I went on Viator’s “Catamaran Tour through the Beagle Channel and Penguins in Isla Martello”. Though the boat was crowded, I had a great time, and I was able to see sea lions, several species of birds (including Magellanic Penguins), and a mysterious-looking lighthouse.

While I only went to Ushuaia because I was heading to Antarctica, I’m glad that I was able to go there, as I thoroughly enjoyed the beauty and tranquility found at the end of the world.

If you have any questions about my travels in Argentina, feel free to contact me.
