As I mentioned on my North America page, I currently live in and have traveled around the USA. On two separate occassions, I went to Hawaii. While Hawaii is part of the USA, it is so different from the other parts of the country that I felt like it deserved its own entry.
I went to the Island of Hawai’i (known as the “Big Island”), the largest of the islands in the Hawaiian archipelago, in 2011 and again in 2012. My younger brother was living there at the time, so I visited him and explored the area.
I saw Rainbow Falls and Akaka Falls.

I went to Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park.

I went to Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National Historic Park.

I went to Punalu’u Beach, a beautiful black sand beach.

I went to Ka Lae, the southernmost point in the United States, and I jumped into the ocean.

I also swam with sea turtles, visited Mokuaikaua Church (the oldest Christian church in the Hawaiian Islands), ate at a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant, saw ocean sunsets, and just had a great time.

I really enjoyed the time I spent there. All I can say is, “Mahalo, Hawai’i!”
