In April of 2024, my mom and I took a trip to Italy. You can read about that here.
While we were in Rome, we visited Vatican City, the world’s smallest country. We were able to see St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in the world.

We were also able to visit the Vatican Museums. They contain artwork from all over the world. One of the most impressive sights is the Sistine Chapel. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take pictures there. However, in another room, I was able to take a picture of the famous fresco “The School of Athens” by Raphael.

We were able to walk around inside the walls of Vatican City, where we saw some local wildlife.

After visiting Rome, my mom and I continued on our trip around Italy. We eventually made it to San Marino, a European microstate and enclave within Italy. It is the third-smallest country in Europe and the fifth-smallest country in the world.
We walked around the area, and were able to see the Palazzo Publico (the town hall), the San Marino Cathedral, and the Fortress of Guaita.

While in San Marino, I was able to get a stamp in my passport.

If you happen to be in Italy, and happen to travel around the country a bit, I highly recommend visiting both Vatican City and San Marino. It will make your trip even more memorable.

If you have any questions about my travels in Vatican City, San Marino, or Italy, feel free to contact me.
When my mom and I took the tour around Italy, making stops in Vatican City and San Marino, we went on Tourradar’s “Italian Delights (12 days)” tour. Tourradar has lots of awesome tours to Europe. Check them out!
Another operator that I often use when traveling is Viator. Viator has lots of awesome tours, too. Check them out! To view a collection of the experiences that I have personally partaken in and highly recommend, go here.
