Jordan

In October of 2026, I went to Jordan with my wife. We were only in the country for a total of three days, but those days were filled with adventure.

On the first day, we just hung out in the capital city of Amman.

On the second day, we visited Petra and the Dead Sea. We went on Viator’s “From Amman: Petra and Dead Sea Full day tour”. It took about 3 hours to get to Petra from Amman.

Once we arrived at the site, we walked down a winding path through the Siq until we finally reached the Treasury, Petra’s most iconic structure. The 1.2 km long walk is a peaceful journey that feels like you’re going back in time.

Petra is a massive archaeological site, and we only saw a small part of it. Past the Treasury lies the “Street of Facades” with its tombs and monuments. Further along is the Theatre, which is best viewed from above.

We paid to ride in a golf cart back to the Visitor Center, as we were short on time and tired of walking. Our next destination was the Dead Sea, which is approximately 3 hours away from Petra.

We arrived at the Holiday Inn Resort, which has direct, private beach access to a section of the Dead Sea. This sea, which is ten times saltier than the ocean, allowed me to float around effortlessly and enjoy the tingly sensation of the mineral-rich water.

The drive back to Amman took about an hour.

On the third day, we took a trip to Jerash, which is about an hour away from Amman. The city of Jerash is famous for its Greco-Roman ruins. The ruins are very well-preserved and easy to explore.

After spending a few hours in Jerash, we went to the airport and flew home.

Though our trip to Jordan was very brief, my wife and I feel privileged to have had the chance to experience the great wonders that the country has to offer.
